sentence of the day: who's on first?

Abigail Adams is one of the women being honored on a twelve-foot-tall triumphal arch in Washington Square Park in New York City (a block and a half from where I used to live). The public art installation entitled WE STAND is sponsored by the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation in honor of Women's History Month. It celebrates the life and work of the women of Greenwich Village, the East Village, and NoHo, including Abigail Adams, Eleanor Roosevelt, Marsha P. Johnson, Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney, Lorraine Hansberry, Sonia Sotomayor, and Rachel Maddow.

I love the description of her position as "First Second Lady, Second First Lady." In Doug Emhoff from 2021-2015, we had the first Second Gentleman of the United States.
